       OVERCOMING DEPRESSION

Depression has become very deadlier than most of the sickness and diseases we know.

Everyone battles with depression once, twice or more at some point in their lives. Depression can be caused by so many factors like money, peer pressure, life challenges, and so many other things but the truth is that the major cause of depression most times is us ourselves. It may sound weird but we bring these things upon us most times.


   On this piece of my blog, I'm going to give you several ways on how you can overcome depression. KEEP READING.


WAYS TO OVERCOME DEPRESSION.

Anti-Depressants -  Thanks to the modern age technology that has provided and aided us with medications for depressions generally called ANTI-DEPRESSANTS. I can’t really tell you how to take them, where to find them or anything about it, but all I know is that they can be helpful so please contact a physician or doctor to tell you more about this.


Avoid staying idle - Study has proven that being idle causes Depression because once the body is at rest, it tends to go back to bringing past memories and thereby wearing you down. So avoid being idle, do anything possible to keep you busy and active even if playing video games, talking on the phone, reading, or writing. Just be busy.


Talk to people - Talking to your close or loved ones or even people around you and being more open to them can help overcome depression. Depression kills more because it’s mostly kept secret and hidden in us. Things left in secret are more dangerous but they become very safe and easy to tackle once it’s open or revealed. I know most people may feel like they don’t have people to talk to but just try as much as possible to open up to your most trusted person or a counsellor.


Exercise - This one may sound strange but exercising can also help decrease depression. Exercising helps to release something we call DOPAMINE in our brain which then helps take away the mind from negativity and refreshing us with positivity. Exercising daily or twice a week isn’t bad. 


Read books - Yes it is what it is. The book we all hate to read can also be of good help to us. In fact, it is necessary for a good life but we all hate it because of our experiences in schools. Reading educative, motivational, and inspirational books by great authors are very helpful in killing depression. It helps a lot in bringing positive vibes to us. I recommend everyone find and read the book called “ ATOMIC HABITS “ by James Clear.



Limit social media usage - I know this might be hard for you but you would really need to quit or limit Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social networks. Just ask your selves this question… except for communicating or messaging with your family members and loved ones, of what other good is social media to you? What other value does it bring to you? Social media makes us feels like celebrities live a happy life and we can be like them thereby pressuring us and making us feel unhappy with ourselves, it makes us become very harsh to ourselves. Social networks are what cause online bullies and trolls. Cyberbully is the most popular cause of depression and suicide in teens all over the world. So please try to limit your social media usage as low as possible. You can do this by tracking the time you spend on social media with some apps on the play store. I will recommend ‘SocialX’.



Change your mindset - Changing your mindset is a very powerful tool in overcoming depression. Our mind is a very powerful weapon that we often neglect. Removing negativity from our thoughts and replacing it with positivity is very essential. Work on changing your mindset and see good things manifest. 



Defeat fear and Anxiety - To overcome depression you have to first conquer fear and anxiety. Fear is a False Evidence Appearing Real. Depression is mainly due to fear of the future, fear of someone, and fear of things around us. When you start having the fear in your mind, it brings about doubt which will then bring you down into sadness. Stop having that fear in you. The only thing you should be afraid of in life is yourself. Overcome fear and anxiety and set free of yourself. Everything on the other side of fear is 90% positivity. Don’t let your doubts keep you on the negative side. Dare yourself and overpower fear.
