BASIC GUIDELINES FOR MEDITATION AS A BEGINNER

  • We discussed about Meditation earlier . In Case you still don't know what is Meditation then you should read EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MEDITATION.

  • Today i will discuss on the basic guildlines for meditation as a beginner.

  •     Firstly,  as a beginner you should know that Meditation requires a comfortable environment and you also need to get comfortable before Meditating because it will help you be more focused without pain and other discomfort. so what are these measures you need to take in getting comfortable before Meditation?

  • 1.  Choose a quiet, peaceful environment: You should first choose a  very comfortable place away from noise and distraction. As a beginner you should a place that you wont be interupted or distracted by anything or anyone. It is very important to switch off or silence all your devices to avoid disturbance and distraction, make sure the TV is also off. If you wish playing Music during Meditation then make sure the music is a calm music i.e music without any vocals just with cool slow beats, or like any sleeping sound just like the sound of a running water. Meditating outside is a very good way to begin but avoid staying close to busy roads or near children, staying under a cool tree would be very much okay. In other words, choose a place that you have your full privacy.

  • 2. Try to be physically comfortable : to meditate you need to be physically comfortable i.e wear clothes that you will be comfortable in meditating while putting them on. Don't wear tight cloths , they are very uncomfortable while stretching yourself. Wear cloths that are loose or anything you know you will be very comfortable in.

  • 3.  Before Meditating make sure you time yourself : Before you begin, you should decide how long you are going to meditate. While many seasoned meditators recommend 20-minute sessions twice a day, beginners can start by doing as little as 5 minutes once a day.
  • Once you have decided on a time frame, try to stick to it. Don't just give up because you feel like it isn't working. It will take time and practice to achieve successful meditation. Right now, the most important thing is to keep trying.
  • Find a way to keep track of your meditation time without distracting yourself. Set a gentle alarm to alert you when your time is up. Or time your practice to end with a certain event—such as the sun hitting a certain spot on the wall.

  • 4. Do some stretching exercises before meditation :  Remember Meditation usually involves sitting in one spot for a certain period of time, so it is important to release any tension or tightness before you begin. Do some stretch exercises, make sure you stretch your neck, shoulder, legs , and lower back to avoid stiffness. If you don't know how to do stretch exercises , then read some Yoga practices.

  • 5. try to sit in a comfortable way : it doesn't matter which ever way you decide to sit but make sure you are very comfortable in it. You can sit with or without folding your legs. Remember to straighten your spin once you are sitted  because it will help you be more focused.

  • 6: Close your eyes to help you focus and relax :  As a beginner it is best to Meditate with your eyes closed to avoid Visual distraction and it is the best way to help you feel comfortable.
  • Note : If you wish to meditate with your eyes open then settle up a candle in your eye sight level and focus on the flame or fire till it feels like becoming blur.

  •     Secondly, Engaging yourself in different basic meditation practices. In other to be perfect in Meditation you need to try basic mediation practices. so, what do you think are these practices?

  • 1,  Try to follow your breath : Try to focus on your breathing and only your breathing. Don't think about your breathing or pass any sort of judgment of it (e.g., “That breath was shorter than the last one.”). Just attempt to know your breath and be aware of it.

  • 2, Repeat a mantra : Repeating a mantra will help you stay focused. A mantra is just a specified sound or word or even phrase. repeating a mantra over and over again till you silence your mind and enter a deep meditation is a very good way as a beginner. some good mantras are words like kind, peace, one and many others. You can also use traditional mantras like  "Om," "Sat, Chit, Ananda," they all mean peace and existence.

  • 3,  Practice visualization if you prefer to focus inward: You should try imagining yourself in a place calm and explore your imagination. One common type of visualization involves creating a peaceful place in your mind and exploring it until you reach a state of complete calm. The place you visualize could be a warm, sandy beach, a flower-filled meadow, a quiet forest, or a comfortable sitting room with a roaring fire. Whatever place you choose, allow it to become your sanctuary.
  • Once you have mentally entered your sanctuary, allow yourself to explore it. Don’t work to "create" your surroundings. It’s as if they are already there. Just relax and allow the details to come to the forefront of your mind.

  •
  •     And lastly, you should embody meditation into your everyday life.
  • 1, You should try to repeat meditation everyday at the same exact time.

  • 2, read spiritual books to help me improve more.

  • 3, Practice mindfulness in your everyday life

  • 4, always do exercises and eat healthy foods

  • 5, View meditation as a journey rather than a goal.
